Whispers from the Holy Spirit

  During COVID I regularly attended a church which got first-tense salvation all wrong.  Instead of Salvation being the result of choosing Christ as their Lord and Savior when old enough to make such a choice, their Salvation was based on a choice responsible adults made for them as infants.  It took me quite a while to figure this out and by that time I had been enjoying sermons by their very loving staff.  They got second-tense salvation correct.  The verses from   Mark 12 and Matthew 22 which say, “Love they neighbor as thyself” say that this is the second most important commandment following “ Love the Lord  your  God with all  your  heart and with all  your  soul and with all  your  mind and with all  your  strength.”  The original 10 Commandments were for Old Testament believers, these two are the whole for New Testament Believers.  There’s no distinction between saved and unsaved “neighbors”...

When presenting salvation, the New Testament writers carefully chose words that emphasize grace and freedom. As a result, the Bible could not be more clear—salvation is absolutely free, the true gift of God in Christ, and our only responsibility is  to  receive the gift by faith .  Romans 6:23   For the wages of sin  is  death, but the gift of God  is  eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ephesians 2:8&9    “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” John 3:4-6    Jesus replied,  "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.   5 Jesus answered,  “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.  6 Flesh is born of flesh, but spirit is born of the Spirit.  7 Do not be amazed that I said, ‘...

  As believers God gives us gifts to share and enjoy and live our lives.  It's our responsibility to maintain these gifts, especially our home and car. For women, being comfortable at home makes is possible to move on to other gifts and responsibilities.  "I can't seem to get myself motivated to make my bed and vacuum as well as doing the dishes."  These aren't just responsibilities themselves, but they help us enjoy other gifts and they set the stage for further successes.  It's so easy to just lay in bed and say, "My autism makes it so hard to get up and get going".  We all know just getting up and moving can turn things around.  Motivation doesn't provide productivity, getting moving produces further motivation.  We just can't use our handicap as an excuse to keep us from a happy life and a rewarding relationship with God.   Focus on preparation .
