Whispers from the Holy Spirit

  Matthew 10:13 tells us that God has given us special messages and blessings to share with others. We are to freely distribute these and if people turn their back on us, we are to shake the dust of unresponsiveness off our feet and go on with the life He has designed for you.  Take back the pearls we have cast before the swine.  Matthew 7:6 Possessions can be anchors. Let go of them.  Don't let possessions cast your frame of mind, your focus.  Turn your FOCUS to God.  I can feel these words as I say them. Always, always see yourself under God's wing. Shake off the world and see yourself lovingly there.  Like that little bird, safe and warm. This is when God speaks to us.  “Speak to my heart,” Charles Stanley used to say.   God says, when the day of judgment comes to people who have turned their back on the  message and blessings He has presented  through us, it will be better for Sodom and Gamorrah.  Be of good cheer W...

  People using my “hunching over my walker" as a visual lesson has been really good for me to see. What we do has more of an effect on people than what we say.  That picture of me has more of an effect than a lecture on healthy choices and practices.  To an extent, the whole world thinks in pictures .   Are others seeing God in you?

  Matthew 11: 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”    Three little words ”for your soul” casts a light on interpretation of this verse. This verse isn't talking about the weariness of life. It's talking about the weariness of hollow religions and religious practices, and the toll that puts on our souls. In Christianity, God does the work.  Our part is to relax and enjoy our position in Him. If you've been looking at these verses in the light of the hardships of daily life you've missed so much.  Don’t be distracted.  Listen for the Spirit to guide you and interpret the fineness of His verses. The tender, kind, sweet love of His intention for us.  Thank You, Father. 

Worshiping Whom?  Be careful when you go to church.  Are you going primarily to spend time with God or are your friends and your church’s rituals and identification your primary focus.  As you follow through the service are you communicating with God or checking off weekly in-service practices.  What’s the true purpose of spoken responses by the congregation?  Do you feel you are talking to God or could you respond by rote if you were falling asleep during the service?   It might be good for us to visit other churches to get a little-distanced look at church in our relationship with God. 

While reading Blackaby's day-by-day devotional entry today I was thinking about the man who prepared the room for the Last Supper.  He had to have been obedient and humble to God's word to prepare a room for something he had no idea about.  If we are obedient enough just to quietly follow/obey God's instructions, how might God use us. If we were obedient enough for Him to use us to quietly prepare the way for other people's Christian lives; what a privilege and responsibility that would be. What a trusting, obedient, self-sacrificing relationship that man must have had with God.  What an example for us.
