 Matthew 10:13 tells us that God has given us special messages and blessings to share with others. We are to freely distribute these and if people turn their back on us, we are to shake the dust of unresponsiveness off our feet and go on with the life He has designed for you.  Take back the pearls we have cast before the swine.  Matthew 7:6

Possessions can be anchors. Let go of them.  Don't let possessions cast your frame of mind, your focus.  Turn your FOCUS to God.  I can feel these words as I say them. Always, always see yourself under God's wing. Shake off the world and see yourself lovingly there.  Like that little bird, safe and warm. This is when God speaks to us.  “Speak to my heart,” Charles Stanley used to say.  

God says, when the day of judgment comes to people who have turned their back on the  message and blessings He has presented  through us, it will be better for Sodom and Gamorrah.  Be of good cheer We are God's children, His representatives, tucked gently and lovingly under his wing.

In Matthew 10:8, we're told that the disciples were given the power to raise the dead. But we're not told that power is salvation. Only Jesus gave salvation.

In Matthew 9:13 Jesus says I will have mercy and not sacrifice. I believe that at that point  he's telling the people that mercy and salvation now comes through Him, internally and no longer externally through an animal sacrifice.
