Hello, everyone. I'm  an intermittent blogger and it's been a long time since I've posted.    Please be patient with me and my stumblings.  

Maybe like me, you're a Born Again Christian and a cancer survivor, too--there are a lot of us.  If we let Him and invite Him, this can be a precious learning experience which draws us closer and closer to Him.  Something that seems so obvious to us, but not to unbelievers, is that God doesn't promise us a free pass in life when we decide to love Him and have accepted His gift of Salvation.  His love provides us with the ability and desire to remain close to Him as He matures and strengthens us through our trials.  

I'll be using journal entries; quotes from some of my favorite authors; thoughts the Holy Spirit brings to me--things that might help you make it through a tough day.  

Time and time again, God has shown me that others are suffering with the same problems as mine.  It's so comforting just to know that we're not alone, God is with us and sharing, our trials can comfort other believers facing the same discouragements.

May 5, 2021  I have attended an adult Bible class titled "Experiencing God."   They publish an accompanying daily devotional which is available on line.  It's much more substantial than most and very inspiring.  A great and challenging way to start your day.  A warning Henry Blackaby makes at the start of the videos which accompany the class:  "Be careful, people say this class has changed their life."  The most important principle they teach changed my life:  "God made us for a relationship with Him."   Also, "Watch to see where God is working and then join Him."  This is an amazing thought for someone who is retired.

5-4-2021  Some thoughts:  Children raised in a home without love and support lack things to celebrate and seldom draw attention to themselves or pursue their strengths.  It's amazing how many people, including children, are just surviving.  

Being isolated this past year, people have had to take more responsibility for their day-to-day Salvation (living the Christian  life).  Jesus purposely spoke in Parables so that people would need to think for themselves, think about what He was saying and decide for themselves what they thought and and then  decide what they believed.  What did they truly want?  He often asked them after healing them:  "What do you want me to do for you?"  Did they just want a quick fix or did they want to follow Him?  I asked a Pastor at one point if he thought many of the people Christ healed in the Gospels were actually saved.  His answer was "No."  Every time I read through the Gospels I watch for this.  It's a very fine line, and we want to think everyone lives happily ever after.  

What part does discipleship serve in Salvation?  It's a necessity; is it a sign of true belief?  This has been gnawing at me for a couple of years.  It's very interesting to ask people's beliefs on this and for every verse that appears to take one side, there is an equally convincing verse that seems to contradict it.  It all confirms that it's what's in our heart that convinces God.  That's what He hears.
